Even a small reduction in salt consumption by 15% could save millions of lives worldwide. A simple change in nutrition can be more effective than many medical interventions. The video calls for thinking about everyday salt consumption. This intervention requires no medications, only adjustment of habits.

Recommended salt intake norms for adults are less than 5 g of salt per day. This is about one incomplete teaspoon, which equals 2000 mg of sodium (1 g of salt = 400 mg of sodium). Only purely plant-based nutrition fits within this indicator (less than 1500 mg of sodium per day). In most countries this indicator is significantly exceeded. On average people consume from 8 to 15 g of salt per day, and in Russia this indicator reaches 12 g. This means that the norm is exceeded 2-3 times. It's all about hidden salt contained in store-bought products and especially in meat. Even raw foodists who are fully on plant-based nutrition get enough of it from food without adding it.
